Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata is a seasoned and highly skilled Consultant Cardiologist with over two decades of experience in both invasive and non-invasive cardiology. He brings a wealth of expertise from his extensive tenure at leading medical institutions in the Middle East, including his previous role as Consultant Non-Invasive Cardiologist at the North West Armed Forces Hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia (Sept. 2005 – June 2011). Here, Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata contributed significantly to the cardiology department, overseeing a comprehensive range of services that included both secondary and tertiary care for patients in the Northern region of Saudi Arabia. His leadership in the department included managing a six-bed Coronary Care Unit and a four-bed cardiac surgical ICU, as well as overseeing non-invasive diagnostics. Under his guidance, the echocardiography department became a leader in technology, performing over 3,000 diagnostic Transthoracic Echo (Adult & Paediatric) procedures annually.
Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata is early clinical career includes serving as a Senior Registrar at the prestigious Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (June 2000 – Sept. 2005), where he honed his procedural expertise in invasive cardiology, including coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), right heart hemodynamic studies, temporary pacemaker insertion, and pericardiocentesis. Additionally, he excelled in non-invasive cardiology, having reported over 2,500 trans-thoracic echocardiography cases and participated in more than 300 Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) procedures, including intra-operative TEE.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Sharjah’s Medical College, where he has been actively teaching since 2011. His academic contributions include delivering cardiology lectures for Year 4 and Year 5 students, supervising clinical training, and conducting bedside clinical sessions. He has also designed and coordinated the clinical training schedule for fourth-year medical students and is a recognized examiner for various medical examinations, including OSCE and DOCEE.
Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata holds advanced Master's degrees in Leadership in Health Professions Education and Leadership from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, and the University of Sharjah, respectively. Additionally, he is a Faculty Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh for the PACES Examination, held regularly in the UAE. He has played a key role in organizing international conferences, including the International Acute Medicine Conferences (2015 and 2017) and the Basic Echocardiography Course (2015).
In his current capacity as Head of the Internal Medicine Department at University Hospital of Sharjah (UHS), Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata demonstrates exceptional leadership and administrative acumen. He has chaired the Resuscitation Committee at UHS since 2011 and has been involved in multiple hospital committees, including the Credential Committee and Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee. His active participation in hospital-wide initiatives includes conducting clinical audits, such as his 2015 audit on the Use of Medications in Acute Coronary Syndrome.
Dr. Mohamed Seif Allah Mahmoud Shehata contributions to quality healthcare include his involvement in the high-risk management plan for complicated medical and post-operative cardiac patients and his participation in the preparation for JCI Accreditation at UHS. He has also trained as an ACLS Instructor and is committed to advancing medical education and patient care through continuous learning and innovation.
