Aviation medicine, also known as aerospace medicine, is a medical specialty that combines preventive, occupational, environmental and clinical medicine with the physiology and psychology of people involved in aviation. It focuses on the health, safety, medical fitness and performance of pilots, cabin crew, air traffic controllers, ground staff and passengers.

At GMCClinics in Dubai, we offer a comprehensive range of aviation medical services. We are a GCAA-approved medical clinic and have been conducting aviation medical examinations since 2001. These examinations help ensure that aviation professionals are medically fit to perform their duties safely while reducing the risk of medical emergencies during flight.

Our Aviation Medicine team includes Dr. Rawshan Hussain, Specialist in Family Medicine and Aviation Medicine, and Dr. Khadija Alzarooni, Consultant in Family Medicine and Aviation Medicine. Dr. Rawshan Hussain has more than 17 years of clinical experience and is an FAA-designated Civilian-International Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). She provides aviation medical assessments in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration requirements. Her experience also includes occupational healthcare, preventive medicine, medical fitness assessments and health examinations for the oil and gas sector.

Dr. Khadija Alzarooni is an experienced Consultant in Family Medicine and Aviation Medicine who has served as an Aeromedical Examiner since 2018. Her experience covers aviation medicine, occupational medicine, diabetes management, clinical practice, medical education, regulatory affairs and healthcare administration.

Aviation medicine is not limited to conducting physical examinations. It is an important part of flight safety and medical risk management. The aim is to ensure that aviation personnel are medically capable of managing the environmental, physiological and psychological demands associated with aviation.

Our Aeromedical Examiners assess health risks according to the requirements of the relevant aviation authority. They also support aviation professionals in maintaining their health, managing medical conditions and returning to work safely whenever medically appropriate. The overall goal is to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in aviation—from pilots and cabin crew to air traffic controllers, ground personnel and passengers.
