Dr. Wafaa Al Chaer is a Specialist Ophthalmologist with more than 30 years of experience in treating retinal disease especially Diabetic Retinopathy, vascular and hereditary retinal disease and glaucoma through laser and also practicing general ophthalmology for consultation and treatment of all eye disease.
Dr. Wafaa completed her medical education in Medical Academy in Bulgaria. She then attended the Union Scientific Research Institute for Eye Disease and Eye Micro-Surgery in Moscow where she completed her post graduate Specialty in Ophthalmology and Eye Surgery.
She continued in the same institute for her Ph.D thesis about the long term effect of Laser Coniopuncture and Clinic Estimates of the Efficiency to various applications.
Educated and trained in Russia and Bulgaria, Dr. Wafaa applied her expertise in the Department of Health in Dubai from 1989 till 1999 (Rashid and Dubai Hospital Ophthalmology Dept.) where she was a member of the Specialist team before starting private practice.
She worked at Laser Eye Center for 2 years and she upgraded her skills in Lasik surgery during this time and is very keen in evaluating Lasik candidates
Dr. Wafaa is continually enhancing her experience and knowledge by attending various international ophthalmic congress and conferences. She is frequently interviewed on television and writing articles in English and Arabic for magazines and newspapers about eye diseases
